A Successful Convergence On ISAM

Thank you to everyone who came and joined us in Los Angeles and online to make the 2025 COSMIC Convergence a success! Our second annual membership meeting and workshop brought together a wide-ranging group of over 200 individuals from academia, government, and industry to create an enriching environment for In-Space Servicing, Assembly, and Manufacturing (ISAM) collaboration and innovation.

COSMIC members led panels, breakout groups, and workshops to advance knowledge and build partnerships across various domestic space sectors. It was truly inspiring to see such a dynamic mix of minds converging to explore the current and potential applications of ISAM capabilities and what that will mean for the development of the space ecosystem.

From cutting-edge research to policy insights, the activities and discussions highlighted the various innovative approaches being taken to ensure that our ventures into space are both economically viable and environmentally responsible. From plotting the interconnected dependency of the High-Value Use Case process to nuances necessary to build a durable Framework for Multinational ISAM missions, the need for collaboration of the scale that COSMIC brings is clearer than ever. The exchange of ideas that were brought forth from perspectives of researchers, developers, regulators, users, and producers—both large and small—truly underscored the critical role that each sector plays in our ambitious endeavors of building a navigable space superhighway.

The interactive workshops provided a platform for participants to engage deeply with one another and explore the practical potential needed to build a scalable space ecosystem. These sessions were not only informative but also highly collaborative, allowing attendees to brainstorm and develop actionable strategies to move forward on ISAM innovations today, tomorrow, and well into the future. The value of the COSMIC hands-on approach facilitated a deeper shared understanding of the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Numerous COSMIC members expressed appreciation for the fostered sense of unity and purpose across academic, government, and industry actors.

The true purpose, mission, and drive of COSMIC is fostering a more profound and meaningful collaboration and solidarity amongst the entire domestic space sector. The connections made during Convergence have the potential to grow into strong, lasting relationships based on understanding and trust. These new networks are essential for forming partnerships that will drive the future of space initiatives. By combining their unique strengths, members from the various sectors can create synergies that propel the American space industrial base forward.

In closing, we are immensely grateful for the participation and contributions of everyone who attended Convergence 2025. Together, we are not just imagining the future of space; we are actively building it. COSMIC members’ enthusiasm, expertise, and tenacity lead us closer everyday toward our shared goals of a safe, scalable, and sustainable space ecosystem.

Thank you for being a part of this pivotal moment in our journey.
