Policy & Regulation
The Policy & Regulation (PR) focus area works to support the adoption of appropriate regulatory regimes for ISAM capabilities as they relate to government and private space operations. It provides the necessary bridge between technology providers, spaceflight organizations, and lawmakers as regulations are foreseen, become necessary, or are proposed.
The PR focus area works to maintain a thorough understanding of the current and proposed policies and regulations related to ISAM and summarize that understanding to the COSMIC community. It supports the development of international norms for peaceful use of ISAM capabilities and encourages best practices for minimization of space debris.
The PR focus area coordinates with other ISAM-related organizations such as The Consortium for Execution of Rendezvous and Servicing Operations (CONFERS), Lunar Surface Innovation Consortium (LSIC), and other COSMIC focus areas to provide legal, regulatory, standards, and policy support to the ISAM community. It also supports organizations that develop standards as they relate to ISAM.
If you are a member of the PR Focus Area and are looking to log into the COSMIC Collaborative Site, please follow the log in instructions at https://cosmicspace.org/membership/participant-portal/
